I am becoming a Whovian.

I knew it would happen eventually. I like sci-fi in general and Doctor Who is really popular. So popular, in fact, that I held off watching it because I just KNEW I would get hooked.

Surprisingly, it didn't happen as quick as I thought. The first season (of the newer show) is rather... well, definitely low-budget. So is the second one, so far, but it took me a bit to get past that.

And then came "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances". Two episodes that go together as a two-part episode and it was really good.

And then... oh then... BAD WOLF. The last two of the first season. The end scene of the very last one... just blew me away. So many feels. Good feels. GREAT acting. Great dialogue. Great music. It's rare that any TV show or movie makes me feel the way that made me feel. AMAZING.

At first I didn't much like David Tennant when he showed up. Christopher Eccleston was a really good Doctor, I think. Great actor IMO, and funny. But now I'm starting to really like Tennant because he is also very funny, just a different kind of funny. Eccleston was sarcastic while Tennant is more wacky. Both great types of humor, though. So I might end up liking Tennant better. We'll see.

Just kinda internally laughed at myself, glancing at my last post, and realizing that the sweetheart party is probably NOT going to happen. At least, not the fun idea I had about dressing up. Maybe next year.

Well, it's 2013 and we still haven't moved. We found a place that will likely be ready at the first of February. Cutting it close since the baby is due March 1, but considering we'll be getting our tax return next month, the timing is probably best this way.

Other than that, I've been sorta thinking of taking this particular blog in a more specific direction, at least for a while. And that direction is VBACs and natural birth. Or maybe I'll create another public blog for that purpose, I'm not sure yet.

I'm considering making a separate post about my own journey so far and how I've come to believe in natural birth and all that. I recently started writing out how it all came about, but I ended up deleting it from Word because my toddler was refusing to go to sleep and the frustration of having to go try to talk her into napping just got to me and I gave up on it.

So there I am. For now.

Just a quick-ish "what's on my mind" post. And right now, what's on my mind is Phantom of the Opera.

So, I'm not a big fan of musicals in general. I find the traditional "musical" style to be really corny. Maybe it's mainly the dancing and/or hand motions they sometimes incorporate into the songs. Sometimes it's the whole, "Why are they singing here?" thing. I'm really not sure what it is, but I just don't like 'em.

There are, of course, exceptions. The main exception to my "I don't like musicals" rule is Fiddler on the Roof, and that's because I just LOVE the style of music in that one--except one song, the one Motel sings to Tzeitel once they get her father's permission to get married. That one falls under my "it's corny" rule, hehe.

Anyway, I'm getting way off track here. Back to Phantom.

I'd actually never seen the entire stage production until a little over a week ago. I was trying to decorate a "pinata" for our soon-coming-baby's gender reveal party, and I found a very recent version of it on Netflix, so I put that on to watch while I worked. My husband was also in the room. I'd heard one or two songs from the show, and was vaguely aware of the story. I saw the movie some years back, the one with Emmy Rossum. The title song is, of course, my favorite. :) There are bits of the show that do strike me as corny, but overall I do like it pretty well.

Anyway, my husband absolutely fell in love with the musical. I can hardly get him to stop humming the songs now, LoL. He loves musicals in general.

This leads me to what's REALLY on my mind. Every year, around Valentine's Day, my church has a "sweetheart" party and couples are encouraged to dress up. Last year, we attempted to do Buttercup and Westley, but unfortunately I attended by myself because my husband was stuck at work. I was really bummed. But the other day, it struck me--this year, we can try to go as the Phantom and Christine!

Here's the hard part: I'm just not sure HOW to dress up as Christine! Now, I do have the option of wearing my wedding dress, but it's got a pretty big skirt and I'm concerned it would just be overdoing it. I'd feel overdressed. (No worries about it fitting a very pregnant me; it has a very high waistline and lots of room in the skirt, so I think it would be fine, plus it was a little big on me when I got married anyway.) I'm also considering finding an inexpensive simple white dress to maybe look like her dressing gown costume. Maybe. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to wear her blue dress. That thing is GORGEOUS. But it would be expensive to have made. So... I'm torn. Wedding dress? Buy a new dress? Just don't know.

Dressing my husband up as the Phantom will be easy. All he needs is a nice white shirt (maybe even one with ruffles!), bow tie, top hat, and hopefully we can get him a cape. And, of course, the mask. ;)

Obligatory First Post

So blah blah blah, first entry and all. Nothing of substance for me to write here, really, and to be honest I just need an entry on my page to help me pick a theme. Some of them are hard to get a feel for since my page is empty.

So um, I like My Little Pony (the new one), and Vampire Diaries, Star Trek Voyager, Veggie Tales, Pixar, etc. I also love the Fable game series, and really hope they make a prequel someday that takes place in the Old Kingdom era.

I just turned 30, I'm married with a toddler who will be two in December, and another baby on the way, due around the beginning of March.

I guess that's enough fluff text for me to get a better idea of what different themes will look like now.

Oh, and as my info says, I'm not even sure I'm going to use this thing. I've been over at LJ for years, and have friends there, and if they don't come over here with me, there's not much reason for me to even have a personal blog if I decide to leave LJ. Maybe I'll find a use for this otherwise, but I dunno.

I will say, though, that this site is so far SO MUCH like LiveJournal that I could migrate very easily if I have to. I keep forgetting I'm NOT in LJ right now. If the proposed (I use the term loosely) changes to the friends page become permanent and non-optional, I will definitely be more inclined to slowly migrate over here. Dunno if it's worth the effort of moving all my posts, though. We'll see.
